For those who don't know i enjoy listening to Sean Hannity, who i find both informative and entertaining, but today there was something odd. Along side his normal criticisms of Obama, liberals in general, and the republicans who lean to the left there was a reoccurring reference to a playboy article that conveyed a little more ire than normal. Sadly life got in the way and i never got to hear what Sean had to say about the article.

I eventually started searching for blogs that had an opinion, and to my joy there were quite a few people who had seen the article and had an opinion on it. In a nut shell the author, Guy Cimbalo, posted a blog called "So Right its Wrong", in essence a top ten list of conservative women he would like to have sex with. If that were all i'm sure the bloggers would have passed on noting the article, however his word choice (hatef***) left many with the feeling that he actually meant rape. The main problem i had with most of these rants was that no one had a link to the article. Apparently playboy had pulled the article because so many people were taking offense to it, and posting a story about it in their blogs.

Seeing this mentioned in a few blogs i wondered why so many political (or at least semi political) blogs were getting topics from playboy? well as i read on it turned out that playboy actually sent out a link to various blogs so they could read and "enjoy" Cimbalo's "work", and then social networking sited took over(kindof like right now). But between his writing style, that failed to strike a chord, and perceived message of "violently assault all women who disagree with my political view" the article consistently brings in rating that almost need a new word to o describe how appalling this article is...at least according to the few blog's I've read.

What strikes me as ironic is that from what i hear(from both the bloggers and other social contacts) playboy is the classy porn, the one who had articles worth reading (if nothing else as a convenient cover for large parts of its subscribers and regular readers), and here playboy has an article that many people might read just so they can make sure that the story they are getting is not exaggerated, and the people in charge take it off. On second thought it makes perfect sense. Take it off of the internet and put it where they can make money off of it, possibly even turn it into a multi part thing: the article, and then the next issue what the author meant, possibly a follow up.

in any case i am not going to just rant and leave you curious as to the actual text of the article if you are so inclined to read it. i did manage to find a blog with the forethought to copy the sucker before it was removed(insert Guinness "Brilliant" here). And after reading the article i find myself in the odd position of actually having taken something positive out of the thing: i realized that i am still horribly ignorant of the major names on the conservative side of the field (only knew two women on the list...but on the bright side depending what he rated on that means i know the more major people and he just had more time to listen and stare at their news shows)...other than that i tend to agree with most of the blogs i read.
